Tubular Fabrications Ltd secures local jobs for skilled trades as they secure a significant scheme at Templeborough Biomass Power Plant in Rotherham

Tubular Fabrications Ltd (TFL) will be working for Babcock & Wilcox Vølund who have been contracted to build the power plant with their Consortium partner Interserve Construction, with Babcock & Wilcox Vølund taking on the operation of the plant once it has been constructed. Managing Director, Andy England, commented on the contract award “We are pleased that TFL were selected for the Rotherham Project, especially as the development is so local to us. We welcome the confidence that Babcock & Wilcox Vølund has shown in TFL. Our selection was down to our commitment to uncompromising safety, quality and delivery, and also our pledge to the continual improvement of our highly skilled workforce.

The announcement comes following a fiercely competitive European wide bidding process. Work will commence in the next few weeks as the construction works progress from civil construction to the mechanical fit out stage.

Work started on the site in March 2015 after the development received planning permission from Rotherham council in 2014. Once operational in August 2017, the plant will generate around 41MW of electricity each year, which is enough to supply energy to around 78,000 homes and save more than 150,000 tonnes of CO2.

Templeborough Biomass Power Plant Ltd. who own the facility said the facility would put Ickles “at the forefront of the renewable energy sector” and would allow the site to “continue providing employment and investment opportunities to the local community”. TFL has interacted with the local workforce seeking employment on the project through a dedicated e-mail address info@templeboroughbiomass.com. In conjunction with Babcock & Wilcox Vølund and Templeborough Biomass Power Plant Ltd.
